Éverton Pires
A fishing engineer by academic training, a deckhand for the Brazilian Navy and a native of Campinas-SP, Éverton Pires is a professional fishing guide and founder of the Recife Tarpon operation.
He switched to fly fishing at the age of 13 and has devoted himself almost exclusively to fly fishing ever since. He has fished with fly fishing rods ranging from #00 to #12, and has caught a wide variety of species with fly fishing. One of his favorite types of fishing is wading for dourados and visual fishing for tarpons.
Since 2011, when he moved to the coast, more specifically to the city of Recife-PE, where he began his Fishing Engineering course at UFRPE, he has dedicated himself more to saltwater fly fishing, fishing in mangroves, on rocks and reefs, on the sand of the beach, among other environments.
Having improved his English, he returned from Ireland and began working as a professional flyfishing guide for the Untamed Angling Company, guiding foreign fishermen, mainly Americans and Europeans, on the Marié River in the state of Amazonas, home to large tucunarés.
Returning from his first season on the Marié, he invested in a boat and equipment, creating Recife Tarpon in 1999.
2016, the result of many sport fishing trips and explorations carried out in the rivers and mangroves of Pernambuco since 2011, when he moved to Recife.
Today, he works seasonally as a professional flyfishing guide for Untamed Angling in the Rio Marié, Xingu and Kendjam Lodge operations, also operating in Recife with Recife Tarpon.
He is a great explorer of the coast of Pernambuco and the Northeast, always looking for new fishing spots and saltwater destinations to offer to tourists. His prospecting also includes freshwater, such as rivers and dams in the Northeast backlands, having even carried out some fishing for Pinimas peacock bass in the Northeast backlands.

Sérgio Macedo
Sérgio Macedo, better known as Serginho, is from Pernambuco, born and raised in the northern part of the city of Recife-PE.
The son of a fisherman, he has been fishing since he was 3 years old, with extensive experience in fishing with artificial baits (reel and spinning reel), slow jigging and more recently, he has become a fly fishing enthusiast.
He also practices Rock Fishing, practicing with other members of the Tarpon Brazil group (Instagram @Tarpon_brazil).
His experience with tarpons in the Capibaribe River initially came through his fishing trips aboard his kayak, visiting various spots and gaining more and more knowledge about the behavior of the fish in this river.
He is a Biologist by training, has several published works in the area of ichthyofauna (fish) and also scientific research papers involving Pernambuco tarpons (megalops atlanticus).
He started working as a fishing guide in 2018, specializing in sport fishing for Tarpons (camurupins) and also Snooks.
Rafael Monteiro
Fishing engineer, graduated from UFRPE, born in Pernambuco and born in Recife-PE, 35 years old, Rafael Monteiro is a fishing guide for Recife Tarpon.
A lover of rockfishing and sport fishing with artificial baits, Rafael was the founder of the sport fishing group Tarpon Brazil (Instagram @Tarpon_Brazil).
The purpose of founding this group has always been to promote and spread the fishing of this fascinating fish that inhabits northeastern waters, also creating debates and discussions about the conservation of these fish and best management practices.

Having lived his entire life by the sea, more precisely on the edge of Boa Viagem Beach, he started saltwater fishing at the age of 15, having more than 20 years of experience in tarpon fishing using the rockfishing method. His knowledge of the Capibaribe River is also extensive, having more than 14 years of experience in tarpon fishing in the Capibaribe River.
In addition to Tarpons, Rafael Monteiro is a great expert and practitioner of fishing for Xaréus with poppers on the reefs of our Pernambuco coast.
He began his activities as a Sport Fishing Guide in 2017, taking tourist fishermen to various fishing spots on the Pernambuco coast, in addition to fishing on boats on the Capibaribe River.
Rubens Batista Filho
Born in São João da Boa Vista-SP, Rubinho, 41 years old, from São Paulo, started in the world of sport fishing at the age of 7. He has extensive experience in baitcasting fishing with artificial lures, and is very skilled at teaching beginner fishermen in the sport.
He started fly fishing in 2015 and has since dedicated himself to this fascinating form of fishing. In addition to fly fishing, Rubinho makes his own lures with great perfection.
His career as a professional fishing guide began at the Caconde Reservoir in São Paulo, targeting tilapia and tucunaré species.
In September 2021, he was invited to work in the Amazon season at the company Untamed Angling, working as a professional guide in the Pirarucu and Rio Marié operations.
